The Colossus Bakugan were introduced when the third season of the
Bakugan series was underway. It began first with the appearance of Dharak Colossus in the animated series, which gave way to an exclusive Dharak Colossus Bakugan from Toys R Us. The reception it received from Bakugan fans and collectors was astounding. And then came the Dragonoid Colossus, and Bakugan lovers became even more amazed.
There are only two Colossus Bakugan: Dharak Colossus and Dragonoid Colossus. They are both described as ultimate weapons, with fearsome and enormous power that can bring about destruction. They are also rivals of each other. In the animated series, Dharak is the main Bakugan antagonist while Dragonoid is the main Bakugan protagonist. Both are the strongest Bakugan on their side of the war. When they combine with their respective connection hubs and battle gears, they would make up the Dharak Colossus and Dragonoid Colossus.
The Dharak Colossus Bakugan is made up of one core Bakugan, two Battle Gears, and one connection hub called the Exokor. The two Battle Gears --- the Smashtor and the Riptor --- are attached as the hub's feet. In the animated series, we can see how they were experimented on so harshly to be part of the Exokor. Once they are connected, all that is needed to complete the transformation is the core Bakugan, which is Brawlacus Dharak. This is said to be an evolution of Dharak.
The Dragonoid Colossus Bakugan is also made up of one core Bakugan, a connection hub, and Battle Gears. There are four battle gears connected, however, and not just two. Three of the four battle gears --- the Bemblitzer, Blasteroid, and Nukix Gear --- are attached to the connection hub. The whole thing is still in a closed form at this stage. When the core Bakugan --- Battalix Dragonoid --- is then dropped into the center o the hub, the effect of this would be a sudden pop as the whole opens up into an amazing Bakugan. After this, we attach the last battle gear, the Axator Gear, to the front of the Dragonoid Colossus to complete it.
Aside from the core Bakugan, the battle gears, and the connection hub, the Colossus Bakugan packs also contain Ability Cards and 1 Metal Gate Card. The Dharak Colossus Bakugan has 2 Ability Cards, while the Dragonoid Colossus Bakugan has four. These cards are significant or the brawlers' strategy in fighting with the Colossus Bakugan.
The Colossus Bakugan are not just the only new stuff brought in by the Bakugan series' third season. The Bakugan Battle Gears were introduced in the latter part of the second season but it is really a product of the third season. There are also the Bakugan Super Assault, which is an extension of the the Bakugan Special Attack from the past seasons, and the new Bakugan Mobile Assault, which is a different kind of battle gear but a battle gear nonetheless. Amidst all these new things, however, it will always be the Colossus Bakugan that will stand out as the most awesome of them all. Well, at least, this is what's true for this season. We never know what amazing new product the creators of Bakugan may make when the time comes to introduce the fourth season.
